Jake lifted his face off of the ground, making a face as he felt mud drip off of his chin, "Eeeeuulgh-Yuck! Geese.. Why do I always have the worst..." His grumblings trailed off as he heard laughter behind him. Jumping up to his feet, Jake spun round and pointed an accusing finger at his fellow ship-mates, "You may be laughing now, but lets see how you like this!" He yelled and quickly scooped up a handful of the sludge that was at the bottom of the puddle and flung it at Minny

Tommy watches from the back of the group moving off to teh side ignoring the antics "Plenty of time to play once we have a few pints in us. TO THE PUB...."He pauses as Jake scoops the sludge up and goes to throw it. "Or you can play now."

(( Continued. I was thinking of editing my last post, but then Kaiser's post wouldn't make sense soo... =P ))
Minny's eyes widened but, her reactions as quick as ever, she managed to duck in time, her movements almost making her lose her balance and roll head over heels down the gangplank. Regaining her balance, Minny looked up from her crouch to see the sludge-ball, seemingly moving in slow motion, sail overhead and splat into Ryan's suprised face. "Oops." Jake mumured and scratched the white scales on the back of his neck, feeling a trickle of sweat roll down the side of his face.
Barnes struggled to make his breathing regular, "Nah.. I'm ok." He breathed in deeply, this helping him to finally catch his breaht, "You're legs are a bit longer than mine.." He admitted, then smiled as he realised they had already made it back to the alley where they'd found Laslo, "Here we are!" He said, pointing at a sign which hung over a flight of stair going down below the ground, Barnes started heading towards it when he suddenly remembered the question he had tried to ask the captain earlier, hed turned around to face Felix, "What happened to the cap'n anyway? Did you see anything?"
Laslo stopped walking and leant heavily against a wall as soon as he was out of sight, beads of sweat still dropped from his forehead as he tried to force down his panic and pain, he shuddered as the image of the man from before came flitted across his mind, he wiped a hand over his eyes as if to clear away the vision and shook his head. He pushed himself away from the wall, he needed to get to the federation, they would know of his arrival by now, and the federation waits for no man. Bracing himself Laslo set off on a brisk walk, smiling in releif as he realised the pain wasn't as bad as before.

Chris' hazel eyes widened as she saw the sludge sail through the air on a perfect trajectory to hit... Ryan!
Ryan was perfectly still as the sludge slowly slid down his face. He silently thanked whoever was up there for being able to close his eyes in time, before a slightly demented smile spread over his face. Gently running a hand over his face, hiding the smile, he managed to wipe the sludge into his hand forming another missile. With surprising speed, he flung the thing straight back at Jake.
Felix smiled at Barnes as he heard the guy say he was alright. As they arrived in the alley, his bright eyes narrowed as he took in the sight. "Nah, I reckon I saw as much as you did. That weirdo messin' with Laslo."

Barnes' mustache bristled in surprise, "There was someone else? I didn't see anyone... Just the cap'n collapsing." He frowned and rummaged in one of his pockets, eventually producing a small box of matches and a slightly bent cigarette. There was a small flare as Barnes lit the match behind cupped hands and lit the end of the cigarette which was pointing out of his mouth, the dark purple tuft that was poking out past the inside of the rolled paper burning up quickly and glowing a gentle orange. The engine master's features relaxed slightly as he puffed a thick stream of lilac smoke out of the side of his mouth, "So what did the guy look like? Did you recognize him from anywhere?"
Jake's head snapped back as the sludge ball hit his cheekbone with such force that it stung his skin. Smiling wickedly, he bent down to scoop up another ball when stars erupted from the back of his head and floated in front of his eyes. He span around, clutching his head and the lump which was steadily forming there. With watering eyes he looked up at Minny who was standing with her back to him, the wrench which she back handed him with clenched in her fist. "W-what was that for?" "That was for trying to hit me with a ball of sludge!" She spun round and yelled angrily at him, before turning her face upwards towards the other three, smiling sweetly, "To the bar then?" At these words Jake straightened, forgetting his pain and wiping his streaming eyes, "Yes! To the the bar!" He cried happily and began marching into the port town.

Felix glanced down at Barnes as the cigarette was lit. A slight flash of distaste flashed across his face, but shoved it away. Even after being on the 'Bringer for what seemed ages now, he'd never got used to the 'ciggie' smoke, as it were. "Nah, I'm afraid I didn't get a good look at the guy. I'm sure there was one but it looked almost like a shadow moving on its own, it was that fast." Scratching behind his head where his hair met his neck irritably, he grumbled to himself, trying to recall more than he'd even seen.
Chris and Ryan.
Chris grinned at the second mention of the bar and booze. Pointing dramatically towards the town, she cracked famous grin number 4 (overally excited, hyper and dramatic, maniac grin) and marched after Jake towards beer. Ryan just grinned slightly and followed up behind, slipping into his usual, silent self.

The bar was busy... a thick cloud of cigarette and cigar smoke hung in the air just below the ceiling, a young boy of about 17 hung around the front door as if trying to escape being noticed. "there ya are Nails..." an old seadog that was pretty well known around here as 'Scrapless Jack' came rolling upto the youngin' "Dun be afraid mate they won't bite ya..." he laughed pushing Nails back into the crowd.
Nails didn't answer, he didn't mutter a word just frowned and kept walking until he'd reached the otherside of the main crowd, he was caught by the arm as he tried weaving his way past the other smaller groups of sailors and locals though. "no, come 'ere mate... dun go running off just yet" his partner called pulling him back to the middle of the group.
"hey, Jack tell us about him... what 'oes he do?" asked a captain from another ship, jack was obviously trying to get rid of him yet he didn't seem willing to let go either. "Well, i tried teaching him to juggle once but as ya all can see he's no good at that..." Jack laughed the old ship's cook still sounding half drunk even though he hadn't a drop to drink all day.
"why's that mate?" asked another pirate from an adjacent table trying his best not to laugh. Nails glared at Jack with as much annoyance as he could muster, trying to let him know he didn't want to share his story with anyone here. "go on nails show 'em" Jack laughed smacking Nails across the back to show his support. It didn't work very well Nails only seemed to get angry but rolling his amber eyes to one side he regretfully lifted up his left-hand or rather his left arm... he didn't have a hand on it.
"ooo, you poor dear" a lady muttered as she passed by, Jack grabbed nails by the shoulders and forced him to sit down. Nails grudgingly did as he was forced to and then threw his head down on the desk in dismay. "How'd he get 'ere if he's from Shal? and why doesn't he speak?" asked the captain now seemingly interested in the young cook's assistant. "Ohh well... one question at a time mate... one at a time." Jack said sternly trying to keep up with the conversation as nails made his head more comfortable against the wooden table by banging it repeatedly.
"Nails! stop that it's distractin..." Jack snapped, trying to remember how'd he managed to save the scruffy youngster from wreck deep in the south seas. Nails stopped but only because his head hurt now, resorting instead to his usual method of counting the nails in the table. "He was wrecked out in the middle of Shal nothin left of the poor bugger's ship, his family was dead or so i figured... nothin on board but 'im... found hidden in an old Nail bucket cut up somethin awful... an took him in when he was only 4" Jack explained.
At this point Nails couldn't stand much more, he stood up scraping his chair noisily against the stone floor and stormed off to his room above the kitchen which was really only a space for extra pots that no-one ever used. "So why doesn't he speak?" asked the captain now only partly interested as he investigated the quickly vanishing contents of his mug. "Well... well i dun know... we tried teachin him didn't we Molly?" he called to one of the waitresses. She simply nodded in amongst picking up a stack of dirty dishes. "But he's never uttered a word not to us anyways... so what do you think... will you take him out there?" asked Jack almost to old to go himself he was trying to get Nails to open-up maybe meet some new faces and hopefully enjoy his life, being locked up in a kitchen was no good for him.

Barnes grunted, puffing out some more of the thick smoke, and shrugged, "Maybe the cap'n will tell us more once we get down to Rose's." A slightly dreamy look entered Barnes' eyes as his thoughts drifted to the bar and Rose's sweet home brew. An old, cracked voice that drifted up from the bottom of the stairs snapped his thoughts back to his current situation. "Barnes, is that you? Come on down, we've got the shipment you asked for last time ready." Barnes smiled and marched down the steps, not checking to see whether or not Felix was following him, "Master!" Barnes cried and warmly embraced the old man who was waiting at the bottom of the stairs. The old man was the same height as Barnes, but their similarities ended there. He had thick, wiry, white hair that sprouted around the base of his shining, nobbled globe of a head. Wise green eyes were enlarged by the thick glasses he wore, crow's feet stretched from the corners of his deep green pools to the weathered surface of his hollow cheeks. The old man smiled, his eyes disappearing beneath a sea of wrinkles as he hugged Barnes, patting him on the back with a strong hand before pulling away and placing his spindly arms back by his sides. "I'm glad you're well, I was troubled last time when I heard you were ill." As Barnes talked the cigarette whirled at the side of his mouth and a strange youthfulness sparked in his eyes. The old man smiled, "Yes, I'm fine now." His eyes narrowed and spoke next in a stern voice, as if he was talking to the young child he had once taught, instead of the experienced middle-aged man who was standing before him now, "But you won't be if you keep up with that. Disgusting habit." He looked pointedly at the cigarette, his long crooked nose wrinkling in distaste. Barnes nodded meekly and took out the offending object, snuffing it on his palm and slipping it back into his pocket. "Yes master.." "Good." The old man smiled and looked up to where Felix was standing, his old eyes sparkling with interest, "And who are you young man? Yet another relative of Barnalbey?" Barnes' cheeks flushed a deep red as the old man used his full name, his moustache bristling uncomfortably.
Minny grinned happily as they finally reached the bar, the public house's insignia -a black, thorny rose vine curled around a beer barrel- painted on a swinging wooden sign above the door. Jake pushed the door open wide, drinking in the smokey air as if it was the elixer of life. Beaming, he stepped inside, his eyes darting around the crowded room. Minny stepped in next, copying Jake, she breathed in deeply, her eyes watering as the foul air entered her lungs and as she desprately tried to cough it back out. Hearing her coughing, Jake turned back around and began to laugh, though he stopped abruptly as his saw the withering look in her watery green eyes; he rubbed the lump on his head, it wasn't something he was going to forget soon. Smiling friendly he waved the rest of the 'Bringer party goodbye and made his way over to a shadey looking bunch in the corner who were playing cards. Minny struggled to catch her breath, her eyes casting a glance of longing to the clean air outside.

Felix followed Barnes, his brows touching his hair-line as he saw the man hug an equally small guy. He never seemed like the type. Still, shrugging to himself, he watched the exchange between them, a small smile tugging onto his face Barnes had to snuff out his cigarette. As the older guy spoke to him, an almost demonic sparkle flared up in his eyes as he shot a triumphant grin to Barnes. He'd use that name later. Suddenly realising what had been said, Felix held up his hands with an embarrassed smile. "Nah, 'fraid not. I'm just a friend."
Chris and Ryan.
Chris smiled as Minny tried to copy Jake and ended up about suffocating herself. She slung an arm round the smaller girl, "Don't reckon much to the stink of smoke and good beer, eh?" She followed Minny's gaze to the outside. "We can grab the booze and hang round outside if you like, if you don't mind missing the action that is." She'd just spotted Jake's target and grinned as she remembered when she'd first met the red-haired kid behind them. Ryan had the best poker-face she'd seen in her life. Ryan rolled his shoulders as he stepped into the bar, casting an emerald glare around his favourite bar, not that he'd ever admit it. Watching Jake head off to the shadey bunch with cards, he followed behind. He'd not had a good game in ages and even if he wasn't invited to play, he was sure as hell going to annoy Jake. Subtly of course.

Tommy smiles as he enters the tavern and lights up his own cigarette taking a long draw and blowing the blueish smoke into the air. "Now let us have some fun!" He chuckles as he finds a table and orders a pint and flirts alittle with the barmaid as she brings the drink back.

Minny shook her head, a determined look on her face, "Nah, I'm ok.. I'm sure I'll get used to it. I have to put up with Barnes smoking all the time.." She smiled and head over to the bar, quailing under the bartender's furious gaze as she realised she had no idea of what to ask for. "So, what do you want?" He asked for a second time, one large bushy eyebrow twitching in annoyance. "I.. Errr... a beer?" "What type?" Minny blanched, desperately trying to think of a drink, but the only type see could think of was the strong fire whiskey that her uncle drank.
Jake glanced across as Ryan joined him in the card game, he gave the seemingly moody boarding captain a wide grin then picked up the cards he had just been dealt by the largest and most scarred of the other three men and watched with dancing eyes as each person placed their bets, putting down a fairly large sum himself when the time came.
"Ahh, that's a shame, Barnalby's relatives always seem to make such good mechanics... My name is Alden, I taught Barnalby when he was very small, even smaller than he is now!" Alden laughed heartily and watched his former pupil turn deep red in embarrassment, it didn't seem to bother the old man that, had he been anyone else, he would be lying unconscious on the floor because of the 'short' joke. "So, where is young Minny, she must've gone somewhere very exciting, for her to not want you to bring her." Barnes instantly paled, "Well.. Errr... I... That is, she.....She's not very well and-" Alden silenced him with a wave of his hands, "Come now Barnalby, you were never any good at lying, where is she?" Barnes looked down at the floor like a child who knows he has done wrong, "I said she could go to the bar..." Surprisingly, instead of the roar of outrage that Barnes had been expecting, his old master merely chuckled dryly, "Well, young people will be young." He smiled, the corners of his eyes crinkling as he clapped his calloused hands together, "Well then! Come in, we can't be standing at the bottom of these stairs all day!" Alden cried happily and turned around, opening a large metal door and stepping into the room beyond.

Chris spyed Minny getting in trouble with the Barkeep so stopped gawping at everyone and everything, and headed over to rescue her young friend. She clapped a friendly hand on her shoulder as she shot a wonderfully quirky grin at the guy, completely unimpressed with his brow skills. "Give her half a pint of the strongest larger you've got and as for me... I'll have the same, but a pint thanks, and a bottle o' rum if you've got one, ta." As the guy shuffled off the collect the drinks, she cast a sly grin at Minny. "Gives it a little more kick when ya mix 'em; I've brought down grown men with that combo." She bit her lip playfully as she wondered if she should divulge her most sacred memory... Hell yeah! Leaning even closer, she whispered in Min's ear with a grin: "Ever wondered what the Vice Captain looks like when he's totally bladdered?"
Ryan joined the game, firing Jake a stoney look in response to the grin he received. As the betting came his way, he pulled out his leather-bound wallet and extracted a large enough amount (all secret like) before returning it to his inside coat pocket, not allowing any of the players to see how many coppers he had. Slamming the cash on the table, he picked up the cards and glared silently at them, already concentrating on his game.
Felix threw a light grin to Alden and tossed him a respectful nod. "Felix Spence." He grinned at the short joke secretly, but fired a smile to both men after they cleared up the 'Minny Matter'. He chuckled to himself at his terrible joke as he followed after Barnes.

The old drunken cook had followed Nails into the back room where he'd setup his quarters consisting mainly of a small hammock positioned up high near the only window in the large kitchen. "You can' jus' walk away lad... they're needing you out there in the black..." Jack pleaded trying to do something right by getting the youg fellow back out where he belonged.
Nails wasn't listening to a drunken dribbled word of it, he'd grabbed what little he owned packing it into his hammock and started out the door, slamming the kitchen door as loudly as possible. He didn't particularly like being treated as some slave or an object to be traded, "Wait! Nails..." the barmaid who'd been mentioned earlier tried feebly to stop him on her way to a table but he was headed for the door in one hell of a hurry. "Hey you listen to the lady..." a drunk from a table near the door had blocked his path with a sharp looking knife in his hands, Nails glared at him and grabbing the knife from him with his only remaining hand flung it at a dart board in the back corner it flew over the tables miraculously missing drunks too busy falling off their chairs to be bothered to duck past the gambling tables and straight into two darts that had been lined up on the bullseye.
"Okay..." the drunk muttered clearly stunned by the boy's talent for throwing things, he stepped aside and Nails left promtly before anyone stepped up to stop him, he didn't know where he was going and stopped once he got outside the door he didn't really want to leave the old man by himself afterall Nails had been the one cooking for the old man for the last however many years... who'd look after him? he was too old for anyone to hire and even the barkeep only kept him because of the food Nails made in his name. Defeated in the end by his own callous decision to walk out Nails dumped his stuff by the stairs and just stood there leaning against the railing of the porch just staring at the stars, the only thing he probably found more enjoyable than cooking was being out there... but he wouldn't be forced to go not by Ol' Scraps.

Watching the kid throw the knife Tommy smirks tempted to start a fight his midd;e and index fingers gently grasp the hilt of throwing daggers on thier respective wrists the cold steel slowly warms to his touch as he walks toward the door and to the opossite side of teh porch he was gring and wanted to so see how good this thrower was the steel hilts of his blades rested in his palm as he look over to teh kid. "You really shouldnt ignore a pretty lady when she calls out to you like that." With out waiting for a response and midway through his speach the two daggers in hishand land deep in the wood centi-meters from the back of the kids neck to the point he could feel the chill of the steel. "More so you interupted the conversation i was having with her now i think you need to go appologise.

Nails didn't seem bothered by the cold steel against his neck, he did fix Tommy with a icy glare though that could have cut through any steel. he obviously wasn't in the mood to go apologise not that he would speak a word anyway, reluctantly rolling his eyes in submission though he grabbed his stuff pulling the dagger from its resting place in the post and throwing it upward, the dagger went through a crack in the wooden roof tiles and hit the bar's signpost now resting on the end of it until someone retrieved it he smirked and went inside shaking his head in disappointment.
He soon found the waitress heading back to the bar and scanning the room for something he could use to apologise with, pulling a loose nail from the top of a table he was standing next to he threw it towards the end of the bar where a small pot of wilting flowers sat next to the bargate's doorway. The nail flew straight to the flower he'd chosen plucking it from its soft earth and pinning it to a wooden mug the waitress was taking back behind the bar. Nails smiled in triumph for a moment he'd thought he would miss, running over to her he gave Molly a small hug as she pulled the flower from the wooden mug quite surprised he'd managed to hit it with only a small nail from the table "aww... you little darlin' I thought you'd be on the otherside of the town by now..." she cried happily pleased with his gift.
Nails simply smiled glad he'd been forgiven he put his things down infront of the bar and let her get back to work as he sat down on a stool "you gotta teach me how to do that one day..." Jack said quietly creeping up on Nails' left. Nails didn't even acknowledge he was there, knowing he'd done wrong in trying to give the boy away Jack tried to befriend him again "i didn't mean te' just sell ya off like some slave Nails... you just seem so bored here mate." he added quietly.
Nails at least looked over at him this time, althoug it was only a disappointed look of annoyance it was better than nothing. "I only want to see ya happy again... this kitchen is no good for the son of a captain who had the fastest ship in the Shal... am I right?" he continued getting a little louder, probably too loud for Nails' liking but he sighed heavily giving in, Nails knew the old man was only trying to help him out but he was more than capable of getting out of here by himself. "good... i'll leave it for tonight then... seems i have work to be doin' anyways" jack finished patting the kid on the back in confirmation before returning to his kitchen.
Nails too annoyed to bother going to help the old seadog in the kitchen just let his head hit the bar, he was sick of this true enough but where else was he going to go? Shal held no particular interest for him although he didn't care where exactly he went he needed something to do when he got there and on the way there. He wasn't the sort of person to just sit around doing nothing although ironically that was exactly what he was doing right now.

Laslo stepped out of the large federation building, it's colossal red oaken door slamming shut behind him. A deep frown creased his forehead and his dark brown eyes were flashing with suppressed anger as he made his way quickly down the marble steps, his leather boots making short tapping sounds on the polished stone as he walked. Once he got down onto the street he turned his head upwards and breathed in the sweet early morning air, the last few stars now fading into the hazy pink horizon. Calming himself, Laslo sighed, his general thoughts telling him that he needed a nice cool beer as he unthinkingly made his way towards Rose's Bar. It didn't take long for him to reach the pub, as he got closer to the small tavern the crowds got thicker, mainly sky sailors like himself, but a few townspeople were milling about, even for this early hour. Some would say that drinking alcohol this early in the morning was strange but to sky sailors the general rule was: Drink when you arrive and don't hold back. These were Laslo's thoughts exactly as he stepped into the bar, waving at a bemused Tommy as he passed him by the door. Through the door Laslo found it just as smokey as the others had, though he wasn't a taken aback by it as Minny had been, neither did he relish it as Jake did. Trying not to knock over anyone's drink as he pushed through the endless mass of people, he slowly wound his way towards the bar. But, before he could order his drink, he felt a familiar pang around his midsection, looking down he saw the marks glowing a faint orange. Puzzled, Laslo looked at the area of bar surrounding him, feeling a stronger pang as his eyes settled on a young man sat on his own, head resting on the bar. Laslo clapped Nails on the back and smiled warmly at Nails, "Why the long face lad?" Laslo asked, still smiling, not really knowing why he was calling the young man 'lad' when he seemed to be only a few years younger than Laslo himself, "Let me buy you a beer." Laslo whilsted to one of the barmaids. "Oh, Laslo, this is a supprise, I'd best tell Rose you're here, she's been wanting to talk to you about-" The maid trailed off as she noticed Nails, raising a quizzical eyebrow at Laslo's choice of drinking buddy, as far as she knew the two had never met before on Laslo's previous visits and Nails wasn't known to be the most sociable of people. "Ah yes, don't worry, I'll go find her myself later, just get two beers for me and this lad." Uncertain, the maid nodded and hurried off to get the drinks.
Minny snorted into her drink at the thought of Felix drunk, "Really? Whenever I've seen him he always looks kinda..... serious. Though I spend most of my time below deck, and the Cap'n's alot more serious....." The thought of Laslo being drunk sent the girl snorting into her drink once more.
Jake was slightly taken aback by Ryan's serious atitude, deciding there and then that it would probably be best if he didn't let is new friend see his.... eh, special card playing technique. He'd split the cash up between them at the end of the game. Smiling to himself Jake looked at his hand, seemingly concetrating on the cards as he sneakily slipped out an ace from his sleeve.

Chris grinned at Minny, "He's only serious when he's acting like he's on duty. Stick a mug o' beer in front of him and he's sillier than a panda on rice-pudding." Mixing her rum and larger, Chris sipped some of the good stuff, not wanting to swig until she got the mixture just right. Satisfied with the amounts, she drained a good portion of the pint with a somewhat thoughtful look on her face. "But yeah, the Cap'n does seem a little serious." She swallowed her mouthful too quickly as she noticed said guy suddenly at the bar. Struggling not to choke, she whacked her fist against her ribs, spluttering until the liquid had gone down. "Whew.."
Ryan was staring at his cards, a slightly demonic glint present in his eye, though few could notice it seeing as he was pretty much unreadable in this kinda mood. Lining his pretty decent hand up more prettily, he didn't notice the sly move from Jake.

Nails remained unmoving prefferring instead to pretend he was passed out, the uneasy burning feeling he usually got when shifty characters walked into the bar somehow telling him moving anywhere at this present point in time would only cause a problem. He'd only just figured out that this feeling wasn't due to Laslo sitting next to him when the kitchen suddenly exploded in a blazing fireball. Snapping to attention like he'd just been thrown in icy water Nails was to his feet and at the kitchen the door in less than the time it took for him to find it was still shut, panicing slightly at the fact that Old jack was still inside he began pulling the door trying to reef it open as people realising the place was now partly on fire started screaming and trying to escape.
Nails lifted both feet onto the door giving him more leverage but it was no use, suddenly there was a second explosion that flung the door off its hinges and towards a group of tough bulky looking sailors. Preferring not to be turned into a pancake, Nails leapt off the door rolling on the floor until he was back on his feet he made a mad dash for the kitchen now that the kitchen door was open noticing a familiar bark somewhere behind him he whistled sharply and pointed the potplant he'd stolen a flower from earlier.
The door continued flying through the air and hit the largest guy in the room bouncing back to land on a barrel that had also been shot out of the kitchen Old jack was lying plastered to the floor after falling off the otherside of the door. "Who Hit me?" asked the big guy easily twice the old mans size in either direction he looked more like a stone pillar than anything else, poor jack tried explaining but his feeble attempt was doing him little good "the ahh... the spice packs quite a punch ehh?" he laughed nervously as the guy picked him up off the floor.
Nails came skidding to a halt, the flames where too intense and far too hot he needed another way in... the dog he'd heard barking earlier was his puppy he'd found on the street awhile ago and although it was still pretty small the little thing was strong and smart it leapt up ontop of the bar's counter grabbing the potplant by the rim and dashed off again towards Nails who was busy running back towards Jack and the big brute about to deck him.
Picking up an empty pot on his way through Nails came to a halt on the lower edge of the door now still slung over the barrel hurling the pot as he could at the brute Nails could only watch and wait relieving his pup of the potplant as he came over, the brute was less than impressed with the tiny pot but dropped Jack on the floor "Why you little...." he saw the door and smiled wryly, "now you're going to get it..." he growled smashing the high side of the door as hard as he could he sent Nails flying back into the kitchen.
The next part was kind of like aerial pingpong Nails seemed to bounce around inside the kitchen like he was a monkey in a burning treehouse with only one hand it must have been tricky, but pretty soon half the fire inside was out the big brute having finally realised what was going on decided to help out by grabbing whatever else he could to help put out the fire whilst Nails puppy barked frantically wondering where his master had gone to. The fire was soon out with everyone helping but the kitchens roof had collapsed under the pressure luckily there were no rooms above it so nothing else was damaged that couldn't be repaired by tomorrow.
no sooner had the last of the fire gone out than Nails puppy was after him dodging piles of ash and hissing metal utensils he kept his nose as close to the wreckage as he could without burning it. "Nails..." Jack called now also looking for him, even a couple of the barmaids decided to quit for the day now that half their customers had been scared off. Everything went quiet for awhile apart from the clinking of glasses and a soft murmur here and there.
Nails's puppy began barking loudly and everyone began buzzing around the kitchen as Jack ran over to one of the only still intact cupboards left in the bars little kitchen, scratching at the door and still barking loudly the puppy backed away a little as Jack came over to open it up not really sure what he'd find. Nails beat him to it though kicking the door open and then again when it closed on him before he could get out. "You got rocks in your 'ead kid...." Jack muttered quietly meaning the way Nails had just flung himself in the middle of a fire to try and put it out.
Nails just coughed a little, brushing some ash out of his hair he stood up taking a look at his little kitchen as the bar attendant came in like a firestorm of his own, "What did you do old jack?! how could set fire to this place don't you know what you've done?" he kept drilling Jack like it was all his fault "No... I didn't do anything sir... some guy came in and.... nevermind." Old Jack gave up explaining he knew the bar guy was just as worried about Nails as he was yet Jack was still listening to the man's raving accusations. "Enough already... it was an accident" Molly yelled at them all it didn't make much difference the place was still going to be trashed for a few days.
Nails lifted up his puppy who he'd dubbed Rover the day after he'd found him Rover licked the air happily wagging his tail as Nails walked out of the kitchen sadly and sat down against the wall. he'd been a bit late to save the kitchen but at least he'd saved the rest of the bar from being burnt through Rover barked a little and ran around in circles as Nails coughed a little more and lay his head back against the wall whilst everyone else still argued about what was going to happen now Nails had heard enough yelling for one day and tuned out closing his eyes.
he could still smell the fire burning, it was like being back on his father's ship the day he'd broken free of the nail bucket. He'd lied when he'd told Jack no-one else was onboard with him that day his mother had been left behind... although she'd been dead a good while before he'd found her hanging from the rigging it was the reason why he'd taken to throwing nails or anything else he could find at the ropes the reason he kept throwing things around incase he ever had the need to do it again, hopefully before the person he was trying to save died.

"What a mess.." Laslo muttered, his gaze on the kitchen. The events that had just passed had gone it was all Laslo could do to just watch, let alone try and help. Sighing Laslo grabbed two bottles of chilled rum off the counter and headed over to the silent figure of Nails, when he reached him, he put his back against the wall and slid down into a crouch so that he was at the boy's level, "Here, knock some of this down you." He set one bottle next to the young man whilst flicking the lid off his own. His now empty hand went down to his side and took a pinch of black powder out of a small pouch tied to his belt. He sprinkled the powder into his drink and swirled the liquid inside, it's amber glow slowly turning into a hazy pink, "You seemed to handle yourself pretty well back there.." Laslo said with a note of respect and swigged a gulp of pink nectar from the bottle, "You have quick reactions." He continued friendly, unperturbed by Nails' unresponsiveness, "This kind of thing happen alot?"
Minny was staring blankly at the spot where moments before she had seen leaping flames, her eyes wide and the hand which had been holding her glass was empty, as the the said glass was now rolling at her feet in a puddle of larger. The flames had sparked up old memories behind her frozen eyes, the barking of a small dog brought her back to her senses. Standing up, Minny mumbled something about needing some fresh air and headed out the door.
Jake was stood outside of the bar, his legs having rushed him outside before his mind could even figure out what had caused the kitchen door to fly off it's hinges. Staring down at the ground, Jake kicked up a cloud of dust, wondering whether or not it was safe to go back inside, cursing his cowardice which prevented him from going to look and see. He sighed and looked up at the bar, his golden eyes falling upon a pale and shivering Minny. Shoving his hands in his pockets he loped over, talking to her as he hopped up the last couple of steps. "Are you ok? Has everything calmed down inside?" Minny nodded, though she kept her eyes down, "I'm going back to the ship, ok?" Jake nodded, about to ask her what had happened when she leaped down the steps and ran towards the harbor. Shrugging his shoulders, Jake scratched the back of his neck and headed inside.
